36 hours before we were due to fly to Amsterdam we received an email via Scenic to our agent informing us that we were going on the Scenic Jade when we embarked at Amsterdam and not the Ruby. We were not up set as the Jade was a few years newer.
We found the transfers to the ship good, on arriving our luggage was left at the quay and later arrived at our room. We found our tour guide Andrea excellent, if all destinations staff were so well organised as she was all of our previous Ocean cruises would have been far much better.
The tours were very good, the only tour which was a disappointment was the coach trip to Cologne, nothing wrong with the coach or the city. Just the english tour guide who had very little interest in taking the group round the city centre area. In fact we went to the Cathedral and stood out side for some 30 minutes then he disappeared for good, we walked around in free time.
Our room was well maintained and spacious, we had had fruit, biscuits every day left in the room along with our choice of alcohol. The housekeeping staff were not intrusive. We decided to have breakfast served in our room daily, Harry our butler was always on time, polite and in fact could not do enough for us. Complementary laundry service proved to very good, we noted that the clothes upon returning to us, under 24 hours every time was far cleaner and fresher than on our last seagoing cruise on the Oceania Regatta. The views from the 2 glass large windows gave us some great scenery to look at, it was pity no one was able to clean the glass however during our time on board as it at times was difficult to see out when they were closed. Nevertheless we were glad we booked this room.
