Background: The Symphony of the Sea is the largest ship we have been on. Our other cruise ships have been for around 3000 people so we wanted to try a larger ship and the Mediterranean cruise was on our punch list. We are over 60 and very active - but hopefully the information helps you understand our comments.
Short summary (more after this)
Pros: Lots of things to do and all of it is brand new, beautiful room with lots of storage, great service, incredibly talented actors, dancers....
Beautiful cabin - a lot of storage, comfy bed and pillows. It was nice having the sofa to sit on versus the bed. We also enjoyed the balcony. Gilbert took care of us and he was excellent. It was very quiet - not party noise. You do walk a lot going to and from the cabin to other parts of the boat. We knew that when we picked it. I thought I had picked a cabin on the port side. We only had a port view in one port - in all of the other ports, we were facing away from the port.
walked through town - shopping. Lovely
Took the Petit Train to the church on the mountain. Beautiful church and fabulous view. Had lunch and went back to the ship.
Took the train to Cinque Terre and hiked from Corniglia to Vernazza. Incredible coastline views and fun, slightly challnging hike.
we went to Rome after the cruise - didn't like the options
