We chose the Magic ship based on the itinerary. We usually leave from Charleston but our options there are very limited. The embarkation and disembarkation both went very smoothly and that was a very nice way to start and end the trip! We had two 9th floor cabins - one balcony and one interior and both were very nice and clean and convenient to the lido deck. Dining was just okay this time. The wait staff, as usual, was great but they seemed to be spread thin which is no fault of theirs. The buffet lines were long for breakfast and lunch but the dining room breakfast was available without much of a line for seating on sea days and port days. The theater shows on the Magic were the best we've seen- Flick was my favorite- and the fun squad was always present, nice and personable. They offer something for pretty much everyone. The club was hit or miss. They would advertise specific genres of music (usually it changed every hour) but often wouldn't switch over and a lot of the music wasn't what we liked. The comedy club and piano bar were both a lot of fun and bar service was always speedy and courteous. The ports were great! We have been to the Bahamas several times and it was nice to branch out and see such beautiful places. Puerto Rico and St. Thomas were a lot of fun. We did a taxi tour around St. Thomas and walked through town in Puerto Rico and we would definitely choose those ports again. In Amber Cove we did the four wheeler excursion through Carnival and it was a lot of fun and the guides were great.

Both cabins were very clean and Robert took great care of us!

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

We didn't do any excursions but were very happy with the port - very nice people and easy on and off the ship. The shuttle drivers were also nice and helpful.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Very nice and clean. We did the four wheeler excursion and highly recommend it - the guides were great. The ride up the mountain was a little rough but the scenery was worth it.

San Juan

The locals were nice and we enjoyed walking around Old San Juan. There are some great buildings and shops within walking distance of the ship.

Grand Turk

It was a fun way to wrap up all the busy stops. We were surprised to see the seaweed along the beach and decided to spend the day at the Margaritaville pool. We had decent service but it could have been better.
