Worst first. The ship was delayed for 6 hours due to inclement weather on the previous cruise. Okay. So instead of embarking at around 12.30, it was after 6 pm we got on board. But the computer system failed and it was a looooong queue. Actually, employees at port did a good job. We thought there might be a little extra freebie or apology due to losing 6 hours of our cruise. But no. P and O's PR leaves a lot to be desired. C'mon guys. We know the weather is not your fault but it was not our fault either. Time is money and we lost money with the delay. Excellent but also the bad again I'm afraid. Cabin crew were great. If it wasn't for their employees (who all work so hard) P and O would not operate to the extent it does.

My husband noticed a chemical smell in our room later during the cruise. After I experienced toxic paint fumes on the level above during my walk I realised what the smell could be. Painters were painting the railings on a day we were at sea. It was an extremely strong smell and could be smelt down on the levels below. I complained that at least they should paint if they really have to on days when we are in port. I then rang Reception and asked them to send someone down. They claimed they couldn't smell anything but decided to vacuum the mattress. We asked for a room change but there were none available. I was appalled at the lack of Occupational Health and Safety regulations being not adhered to because the employees were using very strong oil-based paint without face masks. Let alone the damage being done to the passengers who were hoping for a long walk around the ship in a healthy environment. P and O are very proud of their environmental efforts. Really? Basic safety issues regarding strong chemicals being used are protection for employees and also for guests (you would think).

Reception rang to check how the cleaning of the bed had gone. I replied I didn't think that was the issue. They ended up giving us a drinks voucher for our trouble. Very nice of them but really not solving the issue.

Cabin Review

Cabin Oceanview.

Ajay and Ludbianto did a fantastic job with our cabin. The cabin was in a good position (apart from the paint fumes?). A bigger TV would be appreciated for the few times we were in our room.
