Embarkation
Embarkation was likely the most efficient I’ve ever experienced in New York. From parking to ship was at most an hour. That may not seem great, but for this port, its very good. Check in was completed by scanning our boarding passes and passports on a tablet and sending us to the waiting area. No computers, photos, cards or anything. In fact it seemed that overall security was maybe a little lax, but I’m sure they’ve got the bases covered.
Carnival probably needs to update the VIFP program since there are so many at Platinum level these days. The priority waiting area at 11am was more than just a little crowded.
Havana interior is the way to go. All the perks at a fraction of the cost. Ok, the only perk is the pool area, but its well worth it. Deck 5 seemed to be the hub so we were handy to everything. Noise from the Havana Bar wasn't at all a problem.
Explore on foot. No excursions needed here. Old San Juan has plenty to see.
Didn't spend much time. Its ok. Very beautiful but just an extension of carnival. Locals work there so its good in that respect.
Rent a golf cart and explore. Not much to look at since the storms, but its still fascinating and the people are very nice. They need any money you can spare as well.
