We decided last year to arrange an extended family cruise with all three of my daughters and their families. With a total of 13 of us, we managed our trip and took a variety of excursions at the two ports. There were enough activities for adults, children, and families that we were never wanting for something to do. Dining options were plentiful and the pool experience was perfect for our large family and friends.

Tips I learned - Understand your pre-paid tip plan or you may over-tip not realizing that gratuities are added on your bill. Wait till the last day to buy souvenir t-shirts on the ship as they usually save that day for deep discounts. Glad I brought one formal outfit (men’s suit) not just for the nice dinner but also for memorable pictures afterwards. Don’t forget to buy a WiFi plan if you’re with others to keep in touch with extended family besides using stateroom phones. Don’t turn on your cell phone onboard (away from port) unless you’re ready for some heavy charges. Turn on international roaming before you leave on your cruise so you have cell service at foreign ports with minimal fees.

Make acquaintance with your favorite stateroom and dining staff and I guarantee they’ll remember your name and your usual fare. Our barista would see us coming (as we drink coffee all day) and would say hi by name and ask if we’d like our usual hot beverages. Read more
