This was our first cruise experience. We went with our friends who are frequent cruisers so they helped us a lot. I was not expecting the cruise to be as good as it was. It was an excellent experience.

We had drove and spent the night at a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale (SpringHIll Marriott) and were able to park our car at the hotel for the entire week (highly recommend). They offered a shuttle service from the hotel to the ship for $20 round trip the day of and day of disembarkment. The convenience was worth the $20. They dropped us off right next to the ship and picked us up at the same spot.

I was dreading the check in process but it went incredibly smoothly. They have employees that take your luggage (except anything you carry on) and will deliver it to your room later. Once we got off our shuttle they took our bags immediately and showed us where to go to get in line for check in. The lines were long but moved very fast - they have a great system. If you have all of your prep work/paperwork in order check in is a breeze. We were sure to have all of our ducks in a row and it was worth it. What I liked the most was they had Royal Caribbean employees every few feet to guide you in the right direction on where to go next during the check in process. They were happy to answer any questions. We arrived on the pier around 12:00pm and were fully checked in and on the ship by 12:30, probably before that. Much better than any airport check in i've ever experienced.

Glad we chose an ocean view - worth the extra money!

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Didn't take an excursion but we stayed the night before at the SpringHill Marriott and parked our car here all week while we cruised. They provided a third party shuttle service to and from the hotel to the ship for $20 round trip per person. Highly recommend!

Costa Maya

BRING A SWIMSUIT! We didnt know until we got off the boat to walk around that they have a swimming area and swim up bar ON SITE in Costa Maya in the cruise port shopping area. It's not a beach, it's just a huge pool area. We had no idea it was there until it was too late. It's free access and looked awesome - especially if you go in June and it's crazy hot out! Great shopping, too!
