Sail Date: May 2018

Last year my wife and I sailed the Celebrity Solstice, doing the Inside Passage from Seattle. We enjoyed it so much we decided to go northbound on the Vancouver-Seward run and after a couple years, went back to RCCI. We sailed with another couple.

We arrived in Vancouver a day early (it was supposed to be 2 nights early - thanks Delta!).

We enjoyed our time in the city and felt like it would be a cool place to explore with more time. What surprised me most was how easy the embarkation was. If Seattle was utter chaos, including being sent to Uber hell, Vancouver was perhaps the simplest embarkation of any cruise we have taken.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Balcony

Cabin 2D

This cabin has an extra large balcony. It is also the last cabin before the aft cabins, so you get a nice long walk every time you go to your room, thereby allowing you to eat more!

Port Reviews

Vancouver

As noted, the city is very nice, and embarkation is unbelievably smooth!

Ketchikan

We liked Ketchikan. We hired a taxi and explored the area with him. The weather was going downhill when we got back so we didn't explore the town.

Icy Strait

If you think the created port at Costa Maya is bad, wait till you see Icy Strait. There is a little shopping area and that's it. We thought about the tram but a 2 mile wildlife tram ride was $89 pp. Pass

Seward

This is the first time we have ever exited the ship and skipped customs. It was pretty nice! We took the train from Seward to Anchorage through the ship.

Anchorage

Not that anyone asked, but we had a few things that we did that were thoroughly enjoyable. We spent a few hours exploring downtown. We went to the Zoo, which was quite nice, and highly recommended. We also drove North to Thunderbird Falls and hiked out to the waterfall. Pretty cool!

We drove south to Girdwood, and took the Tram at Aleyska resort to the top of the mountain. For $39 you get unlimited rides and a $20 meal voucher. Finally we visited the Wildlife Conservation area. It was great to see the animals in the wild, maybe even better than the zoo!
