SHIP
This is our second trip on the Equinox (for our first impressions refer to our Ultimate Caribbean report in 2013).
EMBARKATION
We selected an inside cabin on deck 9 forward. We usually choose an inside cabin for 2 reasons, a) We spend very little time in the cabin, apart from sleeping, and b) Inside cabins are usually nice and dark; combined with the gentle movements of the ship this is a perfect lullaby. Our cabin was spacious and conveniently arranged. One nice touch; the bathroom has a night-light feature, which helps you navigate the cabin safely without disturbing your partner after lights-out. There is plenty of storage space, a flat screen TV, and a small safe. TIP: this part of the ship is quite a long way from the dining facilities, and this should be an important consideration for the less mobile.
Our cabin steward Roney was always cheerful and always helpful -- indeed this is true of all the crew who service the rooms in the forward area of deck 9. They work a long day, but are always friendly and smiling.
There's not much to do in Freeport, so after a stroll around the port facilities we stayed onboard to watch shp movements from teh comfort of the Ocean View cafe.
We just wandered - interseting little place, but rather overburdened with visitors on the day we went ashore.
New orleans should be a destination on everyone's bucket list. We enjoyed the music, food and ambience so much we are considering a longer trip in teh future.
