We chose this particular cruise because of the itinerary. It was our first (and last) one with Celebrity. We thought embarkation went smooth until I found out that they lost my luggage from the time I handed it over to them. All the others in our travel party received their luggage within a couple hours. I checked with our cabin steward after about 4 hours and he said he would check on it. He came back to tell me that they were still delivering luggage but that will be done shortly, maybe 30 min) and that it must be one of those. I called down to Guest Services an hour later to ask them if it may have been been held by security or something like that. They said that Security didn't have it and that maybe it was misplaced because the tags had been knocked off of it. Over the next 3 hours I dealt with Guest Services and our steward who had both informed me that the luggage was lost but they would do their best to locate it and have it delivered. We attended the ship's emergency drill before departure with me still not having any luggage. After the drill I went directly to Guest Services where I was informed that our steward had found the luggage during the drill and that it was delivered to our cabin. They apologized again for losing the luggage and any inconvenience. The luggage was at the cabin when I arrived. Shortly after I received a call from Guest Services to confirm that I had received my luggage. I confirmed and the person on the phone said that they were still delivering luggage so this was normal. I asked why both Guest Services and our steward had informed me that it was lost and the agent stammered and hung up quickly.

At this point we decided to unpack some and relax. We noticed that our cabin had a strong urine smell and that the more time you spent in the cabin that it seemed stronger. Caught our steward first thing in the morning and let him know about the smell and he treated the carpet with some chemicals. We then had a chemical smell for a full day which did subside. The smells were gone for about 3 days but them started to come back.

Our next issue was finding out that the grout in the shower was cracked and water would run under the threshold and onto the washroom floor when we showered. We mentioned it to the steward and he promptly arranged to have maintenance guys come and replace parts of the shower floor. However, means that you have no access to your cabin for about 3 hours and can't use your shower for at least 5 hours.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2B

The cabin smelled like old stale urine

A number of things in the cabin were already broken

The shower floor was leaking water through to the washroom floor

The toilet broke

The balcony overlooked the top of the lifeboats instead of the ocean and stunk because of the boats
