We thought we would finish off our epic family holiday to the US with a cruise around the Bahamas. I'd read a few mixed reviews of the Sunshine, so wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I am very pleased to say that we had the best time during our 5 day cruise on the Sunshine. Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed every day of the itinerary, and there really is something for everyone on board the Sunshine.

Embarkation was a breeze, again based on reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect but there were no dramas. We did have priority tickets however so that helped. We were on board and in our cabin in no time at all. The four of us (two adults & two teenagers) stayed in the Captain's Suite. It was a very comfortable cabin with lots of space including two bathrooms, large closet, big lounge room and a spacious balcony. All of the beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. Our cabin steward Ruby was awesome, and he did an excellent job cleaning up after the four of us, always with a smile. The towel animals left on my bed every day were very cute.

There are many and varied dining options on the ship (something for everyone). We ate at Cucina Del Capitano Italian ($15 per head) who went above and beyond to prepare beautiful gluten free meals for my two coeliac sons. Ji Ji's Asian ($15 per head) absolutely superb food and service, and Fahrenheit 555 ($35 per head) very nice too and great steaks. We also chose the My Time dining, and the two nights we ate in the Sunrise Dining Room everything was fine (you can also order steaks from Fahrenheit 555 at $20 per dish). The pizzas in the Lido marketplace are so good (they also do gluten free if you organise the day before).

Captain Suite

Spacious cabin, comfortable beds and plenty of room for a family of four. The two big windows looking out the front are just awesome. Room steward Ruby excellent. Great balcony with the best view. Well worth the money to have your own space and a private oasis on board.
