My husband and I chose this cruise over his spring break (he is a teacher) because we got a great price under the BOGO 50% off deal. We typically cruise Carnival to get the best deal, but the sale bumped RCL's prices slightly below Carnival's. Sold!
Embarkation was a breeze, as it always is through Port Canaveral. We arrived around 10:30, and there was already a bit of a line, but we were still on the ship within twenty minutes of arriving. Our only complaint on the first day was the wait until our rooms were ready. We typically buy Faster to the Fun on Carnival so we can access our rooms right away, but RCL doesn't have an equivalent, so we wandered around with our carry-ons for about two hours before we could drop them off. Wasn't a huge deal, we just walked around and explored. The only problem is that I had made the mistake of wearing high heels! We noticed that a lot of people had carried on all of their luggage; I imagine they were even more ready to get to their rooms than we were!
After we got to our rooms, it took another hour or so for us to get our luggage. We, like most of our neighbors, opted to search through the suitcases as they were brought up rather than wait until they were delivered around 3 or 4. It took an hour or so to get them, but we kicked back and watched a movie until they showed up. Then I got my flats on, and we went back to exploring the ship.
Our cabin was small but efficiently laid out, same with the bathroom. The bed was a little hard, but comfortable enough. We could have done with a mini-fridge, but we made due with ice buckets. Everything was well maintained and clean, and our Steward, Sandra, was awesome.
All of the stops we could have gotten to ourselves for a fraction of the price, and the excursion took about two hours longer than it was supposed to.
Port Canaveral is always easy.
