It was an opportunity to experience the cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia, including the Mekong River cruise. Our previous river cruises with Scenic have always been memorable and this was no exception. It was 5 star luxury from the moment we boarded the ship until disembarkation. All the staff we spoke to, were very proud to be working for Scenic and it showed in their enthusiasm to assist the passengers. The shore excursions (included in the tour cost) were well organised and very informative. Although some of the shore excursions eg the Killing Fields and S-21 were confronting, we feel that it was very important for non-Khmer people to be better informed about the extent of the Khmer Rouge genocidal nightmare and the effects on the Khmer population. Evening entertainment provided by local NGO performers on two occasions was excellent and well received. Meals catered for a wide variety of tastes and feedback from other passengers indicated that they were very happy as well. In summary, although the Mekong cruise was a different format to European cruises we have undertaken previously, it was very enjoyable and we would love to return.
