We also left San Francisco 2/5/18 for Sydney on Q2. The Itinerary was great, the Ship clean, and the crew professional. However, with a number of 4-5 day stretches at sea, one would expect some professional entertainment and varied daytime activities. During the day your choice was basically the library, a very small pool, or boring lectures. At night, the entertainment was dull and amateurish. To make matters worse, the food rarely varied, and was of poor quality-- both at the buffet and formal dining room. (e.g. how hard is it to make a decent cup of coffee and a good omelet?) You could hammer nails with the round pieces of hardened dough they were passing off as bagels. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and NCL are far superior on all counts.
To make matters worse, by the time we reached Sydney most of the passengers were infected with the "Cunard Cough", as named by the physician we saw in Sydney who had his hands full telling passengers that codeine might suppress the cough, but the viral illness would persist for up to six weeks. (His prognosis was right on target).
Finally, while the crew was very polite, many of the Brit passengers onboard were not. Many were particularly rude to Yanks, and thought nothing of lecturing all of us on the evils of America. A few were even disrespectful at the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.
