This was our first cruise on NCL and sadly, was not what I had expected. There were 9 of us traveling together and we made the best of the trip and, at the end of the day, it was a great trip but things could have been better. We departed our of NY and being from CT and RI we took the train into the city and then took a cab to the cruise terminal (cab only cost about $12). Embarkation went very, very smoothly and took much less time than I would have expected.
Ship: I thought the ship was nice, although I do not have much to compare it to. I have only ever been on Royal's Anthem of the Seas which I thought was a bit nicer. There was nothing particularly wrong with the ship I just wish spaces were more open, like an open promenade.
Cabin: We stayed in an interior room on Deck 5 and it was great. There was plenty of space for the two of us and the bathroom was larger than I expected (and larger than I remember on Anthem of the Seas). The only criticism is the placement of the pullman bed. It is attached to the wall rather than the ceiling so in order to get into bed, I had to walk crooked because it stuck out so far from the wall. Our room steward was awesome and always did a good job in our room.
Overall the cabin was great, my only complaint was with the placement of the pullman bed (it made it difficult to get in and out of one side of the bed).
There was no need to do an excursion if you are just looking for a relaxing beach day. We brought our towels from the boat and rented mats to use in the water while we were there. We had the unlimited beverage package which worked on the island and they provide a lunch buffet.
We went to Blue Lagoon Island and it was another great beach day!
