My husband and I were due to take this cruise at Christmas and New Year but was called for replacement hip surgery so we put it back until mid February by which time he was doing extremely well.

I had upgraded our cabin to deck 8 (bridge deck) and also took the all inclusive drinks package at £798 so, all in all, this was not a cheap cruise. However, once on board we were invited to upgrade our drinks package for another £200 (making £1000 altogether for drinks for two for 14 days). Apparently our package did not include "top shelf" spirits and we had to pay extra for every can of coke, sprite, orange etc. and even for bottled water. The water in the cabin was charged at 1.90 per bottle and everything in the mini bar was charged as extras. The house wine which was included was just about palatable but ordering from the wine list could set us back another £20 - £25 per bottle for even mediocre wine. A wine package for £174 for 12 bottles was available, but again it was limited mediocre wine on offer..cocktails were also extra. The safe cost £40, yoga £7 pp, a voyage certificate £4.99, wine tasting 7.99 pp. Photographs by the ship's photographer were extortionate prices. Wi Fi was charged at £50 . The coffee shop on board was not included in the drinks package, neither were the cakes and cookies. A la carte restaurant bookings were charged at £20pp so all, in all, we could have spent another £500 each had we been taken in by the hype.

The cabin was good, the food was good and the service was excellent but when we tried to get off the ship after one week and go into a Tui hotel in La Romana for our second week we were told that there would be no refund on our second week at sea and we would have to find and pay for our hotel in La Romana.

Cabin Review

Cabin De Luxe

Cabin size was adequate but lots of reverberation noise at night when trying to sleep. My husband slept on the Lido deck most nights. Toiletries were of an average quality being attached to the wall, no moisturiser or bar soap or facecloths.
