Sunset in the Caribbean

This was our first cruise on the Liberty; overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and we liked the itinerary of Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel very much. Our one RCI-sponsored shore excursion (dune buggy/snorkel in Cozumel) was fun, although the drive was long and actual time in the water was quite minimal. In terms of onboard entertainment, the ice show was especially well done. Activity-wise, the Flow-Rider, water slides, and sports court provided good recreational options with very little waiting in line. Embarkation was slow but disembarkation went much faster. Our cabin location provided quick access to wherever we needed to go, but shuffleboard courts and crew service doors right above us made for annoying banging at various times throughout the day and night, even as late as 11:00 p.m. Generally, we received great service by our room steward, main dining room waiter, a helpful agent at the service desk, and others. On occasion, crew members seemed somewhat preoccupied by conversations amongst themselves, but this was rare, and most staff seemed to speak and comprehend English adequately. Food in the Windjammer and Botticelli ranged from average to good, but repeated requests by staff to give high marks on post-cruise surveys was off-putting, especially since their quality service speaks for itself. A change from past cruises: RCI now charges for all but the most basic room service. Unchanged: the Internet is still slow and very expensive. Overall, though, ours was a very positive experience, and we gladly recommend Liberty of the Seas to you for a future cruise.

Cabin Review

Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin G

As shared earlier, our cabin location was excellent, providing quick access to various areas of the ship. Unfortunately, shuffleboard courts and crew service doors right above us made for annoying banging at various times throughout the day and night, sometimes fairly late.

Port Reviews

Roatan

Roatan was a beautiful port of call with excellent snorkeling.

Costa Maya

Like the other two stops, this port was very enjoyable.
