We wanted to getaway after the loss of a family member. We booked through Triple A in Phillipsburg, NJ. We decided on a Western Caribbean cruise. We booked the Carnival Magic since we had been on the Carnival Valor before and we had a great time. The ship was very clean and repairs and maintenance was performed on a regular basis. The maintenance did not effect our cruise experience. Our cabin was a balcony Room 6445. Our Room Attendant was friendly and thorough through our journey. He answered all our questions and he kept our cabin in impeccable condition. Our cabin was spacious and there was plenty of space to store all our clothes and luggage. We selected the Late Dining that commenced at 8:15 in the evening in the Upper Dining Room Deck 4 area called Northern Lights. Our Head Waiter was Juan Carlos and he was top shelf in all categories. We were located in the rear center of the dining area adjacent to the glass wall where the lower dining room on Deck 3 was visible. It gave us a great view of the room and ocean views were also visible from our vantage point. Juan Carlos made it a point to know our names from the very first meal. He knew if we liked iced tea or coffee or any particular drink, dessert or entree we desired. He pointed out specials of the night and also some upcoming specials. The waiters, waitresses and the rest of the staff sang and danced for us on several occasions and actually enjoyed performing for us. The personal care and attention we received was unmatched. We had been on the Carnival Valor on our very first cruise and had a wonderful experience then as well. We were seated at a table with 3 other couples and we now consider them to be good friends. We actually were sad to leave our final dinner and we will miss Juan Carlos and his faithful assistants. Entertainment and activities abound on the Carnival Magic. We went to 4 different shows in the theater and each one was entertaining and oozing with young talent. Do not miss a chance to attend. The seating was available and the view of the stage was great. Drinks are available to order as you watch. There is a large casino if gambling is your pleasure. The pools and hot tubs are in several locations on the ship. Carnival does enforce the pool activity so no worries about individuals splashing or being too boisterous or obnoxious. The service for drinks, clean towels, removing plates, silverware, etc. is non stop. Plenty of food choices are all over the ship. Tacos, nachos and many other Latin dishes are available as well as oriental foods, deli sandwiches, pizza, desserts, snacks. Ports and Shore excursions are plentiful and I would suggest you book prior to your cruise if possible. Carnival lists all available excursions available by port and it is easy to see what each one includes. Be sure to read the reviews to see if you would really be interested. We went on the Belize zip line and Cave Tubing trip. This trip is exciting and beautiful but it is quite strenuous. You will be required to climb rather steep concrete and stone stairs through the rainforest to get to the zip line area. I am 66 and my wife is 60 and we made it without too much trouble but we are active people. If you are not active or overweight or short-winded you may wish to avoid this trip. It is a lot of fun and very beautiful. We also went to the beach at Mohogany Bay in Routan, Honduras. We took the package that included the cable car ride to and from the beach, 2 chaise lounge beach chairs with a cabana top and 2 kayaks (lol) foam pool floats. The cable car ride is $8 one way or $14 round trip. The pool floats (kayaks) are $6 a piece for the day. We paid $69 for the two of us total. In other words you only need one ticket for two people so it is a good bargain. The beach is large enough to accommodate several cruise ships so you will have space to lounge or swim. We shopped during our stop at Cozumel, Mexico and Costa Maya, Mexico but there are plenty of excursions if you so choose. This was our 5th cruise and our second with Carnival. We would choose to book with Carnival again and very possibly Carnival Magic again. Loved our cruise.
Great cabin with plenty of room to move, store baggage and clothing. Jerry was our Room Attendant and he was great as I stated above.
