We wanted to see the Northern Lights and having failed to see them on a 3 day visit to Iceland our research convinced us that a cruise along the Norwegian coast may provide the best opportunity. Indeed this holiday offer guaranteed a siting or else we would get another 6 day cruise for free.
We were well advised on what to bring for the trip but because Carole is Lactose intolerant we made it very clear to the Travel agents Igloo that we wanted to be sure her dietary needs were taken care of. Assured that they would be we booked the holiday.
Arriving in Bergen our boarding was OK and we had to wait to get into our cabin for 2 hours but so did everyone else. Our first meal was dinner and we were told that we had been allocated a dining time of 2000. Although the brochure said we could select a time slot when we asked we found all the 1830 to 1930 slots had been taken and we later found out that was by larger groups of people from "Other Nations" and we could dine at 1730 or 1800 if we wanted. Needless to say it took 8 days to get our dinner time changed because lots of people used this trip as a ferry. Indeed the whole trip was a steam packet, port hopping journey up the coast to Kirkness and back!
Large enough to sleep in, too small to lounge in
