Left from Port Everglades and did self park in ramp garage after dropping off luggage at terminal. Took free shuttle to the ship and embarkment was easy. The RC Serenade of the Seas was built in 2003 and it shows its age with the dated décor and smaller ship then there are available today and doesn't have all the amenities the newer ships do. Still the crew works hard to keep it clean and are the friendliest crews ever, even though most are very hard to understand their English. Rooms ready by 1pm, luggage came around 3pm. Had inside stateroom which is much smaller then other ships been on but plenty of storage and clean. Nice linens, towels, pillow, comfy bed.
This cruise and ship were chosen by us strictly because of the itinerary. Southern Caribbean ports of call for a first time visit by us. To our observation, 70 percent of the passengers were 70 yrs, plus, 20 percent with mobility issues, and 60 percent overweight. Not a cruise for young ones as not much to do for them.
Entertainment: The nightly shows in the Tropical Theater were very good. The variety of dance music and the other musicians performing throughout ship very good. Casino typically tight slots. Other activities offered throughout day, but hard to understand persons giving trivia questions because most of the staff very hard to understand!
Very small but clean. Lots of closet storage and drawer storage. Safe, hair dryer, flat screen tv, love seat, bedside tables, small coffee table.
