We chose this cruise because the itinerary sounded very interesting and the Viking small ocean ships appeal to us. We have sailed on this ship before (Feb, 2017 and March, 2016) and loved the ship, food, entertainment, shore excursions and the staff,
This particular cruise did not come close to matching our previous trips. The staff were very friendly but seemed overwhelmed. The tours were not planned well and the guides were not very good. We were very disappointed with some of the tours and guides. It seemed to us that the shore excursions were not well thought out and prepared for. We felt like guinea pigs who paid full fair for a first time itinerary.
The staff in The Restaurant seemed overwhelmed and rushed. On Christmas Eve our food was served cold and subsequent visits weren't much better. It should have been a relaxing experience and it was definitely the opposite.

Cabin Review
Our cabin was very nice, clean and comfortable. The mini bar that was filled daily was an excellent addition. Loved the heated bathroom floors. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were not.

San Juan
Since we have been to San Juan a few times before, we chose not to take a guided tour and just walked to our favorite places on our own.
Santarem
This tour was excellent and our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We toured 2 sites in the city and went out to the country side to visit a small village.
