This cruise turned into a solo cruise at the last minute, and although I tried to make the most of it I discovered you do get treated differently--Celebrity does not do solo very well.

This was my 4th time on Summit, and as usual enjoyed a balcony cabin. The room is really spacious for one person! I didn't even use all the clever storage cubbies. The bathroom stank like a well-used locker room so I tried to keep the balcony door open whenever possible to air it out. The cabin steward provided minimal service only. He actually asked that I put out my luggage before early dinner seating on the last night, because that was better for him. Uh, nope. 9pm works for me, sorry dude.

Dining room food has gone downhill over the last 3 or so years. Nothing at all stood out, and one night I just didn't eat it at all. I remember a dinner I had on NCL 5 years ago (rabbit), but nothing worth remembering from this Celebrity cruise. Actually, the sommelier stood out as the bright spot. The table had people with and without drink packages, and those without packages got extremely generous wine pours (like one bottle filled up 2 peoples glasses) and he remembered everyone's favorites. It seems the cruising tradition of giving people second lobster tails on lobster night is a thing of the past. A woman at our table was told no second tail until she ate everything else....seriously?! Is this boarding school? We had not been a wasteful table up to that point. The waiter also seemed put out if we didn't order what he recommended. Never mind if someone was Kosher or vegetarian, order the ribs or else get a sigh and the hairy eyeball.
