Have been on many other Holland America Ships, wanted to try the newest one and liked the itinerary, as it contained several ports we had not visited before. Koningsdam is beautiful, nice flow walking thru public areas, and very comfortable staterooms. Great crew in cabins and dining areas, as well as officers, very friendly and helpful. Food was the best we've ever had on a cruise and great variety to please every palate. Choices of things to do was varied, and the entertainment every evening was wonderful. Although a couple of ports scheduled had to be changed due to recent hurricanes, the ones we visited were beautiful, with warm and welcoming residents. Only booked one excursion thru the ship, and booked 2 others on our own. All of them were excellent. Only complaint about the ship is that the walkways outside around the promenade deck are very narrow, in some places only one person can pass at a time, but inside spaces were adequate and very open. Was a wonderful cruise, and can't wait to cruise again next year!
Very comfortable cabin, with sufficient storage area, everything could be put away easily. Loved the shower area, but some passengers noted the door opening in caused spatial issues. Verandah small, but adequate, especially good for relaxing in the morning, or checking the weather conditions. Binoculars and umbrellas are provided in cabin, which are nice. Cannot say enough about cabin stewards, who were very attentive and did a wonderful job.
Very nice port, walked around town a bit. Great shopping port.
A beautiful port, and very nice to walk around. After visiting the cathedral, bought some very colorful African wax fabric from a store we passed, and looking forward to making the perfect outfit. Walked to the fort. Didn't take the tour, but was an enjoyable walk there, and back to the ship.
Always beautiful, with the softest sand in the world!
