The start of the cruise was delayed by about 12 hours due to really bad weather in the area we were suppose to travel through at the beginning of this cruise. Again, Captain Sindre was watching out for the safety of the passengers and crew. Basically the same crew as the first leg of this repositioning cruise and very little change in the attitude or the work ethic of the activities crew. A couple of activity crew members were added, but the same time issues continue e.g. very few of their activities start on time and are poorly organized. We can’t figure out if this is a “training run” for some of the people. The elevators may or may not work and we can be sure that at least one elevator of the 3 or 4 in a hall will not be working each day.
We have cruised on other RCCL ships and various other cruise lines signing up for the “My Time Dining” and having good experiences with our evening dining plans. Why the dining staff of the Voyager can not figure out the My Time Dining program is a mystery to everyone on the ship. To the dining staff on the Voyager My Time Dining means you either eat at 6:00 or 7:30 pm and there are no other options. Over and over we have heard from other passengers “that is not my time dining”, but when you have Ms. Alexandrea V. ruling the entry to the dining room with an iron fist you do what you are told to do on the Voyager. If you question her, you will get the table next to the door of the kitchen and right next to the plate collection area which makes for a real “romantic” dinner on the Voyager. Also, the dining room menu has been shortened for some reason. On recent cruises there has always been 5 “Classics” along with the special meals of the night. Now there are 3 “Classics” each night listed and the dessert menu has been limited as well.
PORTS
The cabin was clean and we were located mid ship on deck 8 which was convenient to get around the ship.
Easy to get the train to Perth from the port and Fremantle is a great little port city if you want to spend some time there as well. We enjoyed both cities on our day stop there.
They did not have the train operating the day we were in Adelaide so they had busses take us from the port to the city center. It is a very walkable city and they provide free wifi in the downtown area.
The port area is very nice and you can walk to areas near the port for restaurants and shopping. The people at the port are very nice and most helpful.
We choose to spend the day in Port Chalmers and it was fantastic as we have been to Dunedin on an earlier trip. Great walking all around Port Chalmers with some fantastic views.
Fantastic city and very walkable with plenty to see and do all around the city. Great day stop!
Another great city that is very walkable and exceptionally beautiful views everywhere.
Good place to walk all around especially to the sea front to the museum and then back to downtown area for shopping, bars and restaurants.
