We had a goal to visit the Greek Islands on a small ship, the Galileo was perfect. The staff was unbelievable, the food was sumptuous and plentiful. They were very accommodating for dietary restrictions. Our destinations were changed due to high winds in the open sea, therefore we were unable to visit any of the islands. Our stops were all along the mainland, and included a swim stop on a spectacular day. All replacement stops were well thought out by the staff, and included The Lion Gate, Olympia, and Monemvassia. They involved many sites of historic significance, including destinations and museums we would never have seen otherwise. It was a great adventure, because we never knew where we were going! We would definitely take Variety Cruises again, on another small ship adventure. Passengers who began as strangers became friends. We felt completely safe as women traveling, and would recommend this to anyone traveling alone as well.

Cabin Review

Cabin B

In the beginning our cabin was wonderful, lots of storage, great bathroom, amazing attention from the staff. However, midway through, an obnoxious odor of bilge or rotting a/c liner permeated our cabin so that inhabiting it for more than ten minutes became impossible. All staff members who checked it out agreed. As a result we spent the night on the lounge couches in the public area. The odor continued unsolved for two days leaving us with no privacy, no way to secure our belongings, or tend to personal needs. Through the use of fans and turning off the a/c we were able to return to our beds, although the smell, though decreased, still persisted. We have not submitted our review to Trip Advisor yet, in hopes of giving Variety Cruises a chance to offer some type of compensation. Paying premium price for our dream cruise, we would expect more from our accommodations. Before we left the ship we filled out the questionaire where we voiced our concerns. Stella, our tour guide, assured us that she also was in contact with the company in regards to this problem.
