Since we were inexperienced cruisers, I booked our cruise through carnival and took the advice of the carnival associate as far as destination and ship choice. This was our oldest sons last vacation with us before he graduates from high school. He had chosen to go on a cruise. Our embarkation process was very smooth. We were immediately allowed to go to our cabin. Within 2 hours of being at sea we were very sea sick. Many of the other passengers were experienced cruisers and said they had never experienced the roughness. We were unable to stay in our room due to our air conditioner not working. It was very warm and uncomfortable. The food was substandard to what we had heard about "cruise food." The buffet was only opened for certain times. Pizza and sandwiches were always available but the pizza had no flavor. There was an LGBT gathering on the cruise. This was disturbing to our children. Our 2nd day at Freeport Bahamas was cancelled due to high winds. Instead of taking the ship back to port we were forced to stay on the boat for the scheduled time and the sea was so rough that the pool, water slide, and upper decks were closed the majority of the time. Although our cruise was miserable for our entire family, the staff on Ecstacy was amazing. Eco (our statesman) was the best. He remembered our first names and addressed us personally with each encounter and he did a great job keeping our room clean. Our family will never cruise again!
