We were invited by our good friends and experienced travelers to join them on a river cruise in France. We had never been on a cruise before so it sounded intriguing, especially with a couple that knew France as well as they did. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
From the minute we stepped on board, we knew this was to be a special week. Immediately, the crew grabbed our luggage from the driver, and from that moment on, we were waited on hand and foot. While we haven’t cruised before, we’ve stayed in many fine hotels and I can say without reservation, this was the kindest, most thoughtful, happy staff and crew we’ve ever experienced. We knew immediately that this was a tightly run ship.
The decor was first class. The ship was immaculate. And our room on the second deck was perfect. It’s amazing how we thought the room was going to feel small, and yet it was perfectly laid out in every way. We had traveled before coming to the cruise so had two big suitcases that slid under the bed with ease. The Mac computer mounted on the wall doubled as an onboard computer, as well as an entertainment center, the perfect size for the cabin. The two chairs were so comfortable and could face in to the room or out to the water, in front of nicely oversize sliding glass doors. I can’t tell you the delight we had when we were slipping through the water quietly, reading and watching the world go by. Indescribable! The bathroom was also super efficient and the shower was small but big enough, and amazing with multiple shower heads. We wanted to go home and remodel ours after it!
