We are regular cruisers with RCCL, Celebrity and have sailed with Cunard and Regent Seven Seas. We chose this cruise as we wanted to try a different line. This one sailed from Southampton so was convenient. We sailed with 4 friends, also regular cruisers. We all had the status match so we were black card holders.
Embarkation - we were kept waiting for several hours in the terminal but once it began it was quick, the cabins were ready and our black card was on the bed. Our friends cards were incorrect and it took several visits to guest services over the next 2 days to get them corrected.
The Ship - we found it to be a bit cheap and plastic looking, very 'blingy '. However it was spotlessly clean and well maintained. I was impressed that the toilets were always spotless. We didn't like the pool areas, but did like the coffee bar on deck 7. Our balcony cabin was bigger than we are used to but again the decor looked cheap. Liked the bathroom though. Cabin was aft on deck 10 and whilst we had a big balcony the vibration and noise from the engines was terrible. Steward kept the cabin clean and we hardly saw him.
You don't have to take a ships excursion, there is a transfer bus just outside the dock area, which you can book on line before you leave. Bruges is a lovely place, well worth a visit.
You can walk into town from the port. We went to the flower market. Very nice.
We got a taxi there and arranged a pick up time to come back and he was there waiting for us. Just wandered around, saw a flea market, and had a drink. I would like to go there for a weekend.
We got a taxi there and arranged a time to be picked up and the driver was prompt. A lovely little town. We walked around and had a very good value meal. I would like to go for a weekend.
