We chose this cruise because of the cities, Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen. We thoroughly researched each city to determine what excursions, if any we would take. If you go to Russia, it is easiest to go with the ships excursions, as you are required to have a visa. It is really difficult to acquire one. Going thru Russian customs was difficult the first day, as they had to type up everyone's visa. Prepare extra time to get thru. The rest of the ports easy on and off.

The Getaway is huge. The buffet is over crowded. Be prepared to shove your way thru it or get pushed out of the way. I have never been on a cruise where the passengers were so rude. Also, hold onto your plate while you are dining at the buffet, or one of the wait staff will come by and whisk it away. The tables are too close together and if you want a window seat... you may not be able to easily get past the next table to a drink refill or seconds.

The main dining rooms were right beside each other, not spaced thru out the ship. Service was spotty, depending on your servers. A real shame, since in order to escape the throngs of people shoving you are driven to eating in the dining rooms.

Cabin ID

The cabin was nice. Very small, but we didn't intend on spending much time there other than sleep and procreation. However, since there were no quiet rooms on the ship the last day at sea we spent quite some there.

Our steward was really nice and kept the room super clean. He was really attententive to our needs or assisting us with our luggage.

Next time definitely getting a room with a view and most likely a balcony.

Port Reviews

Tallinn

This is a great port to walk around on your own. We went from church to church as you could see the steeple rising above the other buildings. We went into some great shops and hit some scenic overlooks. If you like beer you have to go to the crafty monk and try the honey beer! YUM

Berlin

Berlin was great. We spent 3 days there before and one day after the cruise. Way too much to see in a day trip.

Helsinki

We took the shuttle into town and walked around. Cute little markets set up throughout the city. Keep in mind what day you are going to be in each town. We were here on Saturday so it really was great.

Copenhagen

A friend of mine lives in Denmark. He met us at the ship and took us around the city. It was by far the most relaxing day. There were no crowds and we stayed off the beaten path most of the time. Using public transportation and having local currency really helped!
