We cruised with NCL 30 years ago for our Honeymoon. We were now celebrating our 30th Anniversary. We wanted to relive our honeymoon. However Cruising has changed way too much. Ships are so large that the personal service that we received 30 years ago is gone.

Ship layout was very confusing. Took us all week to figure out how to get from point A to Point B which often meant having to go up one or two levels before we could go from front to back.

We did not enjoy the "Freestyle" cruising. On our pervious cruise we got to know the people who were assigned to dine at our table and became good friends. The food was beyond fantastic and the staff got to know you so well they would have the drinks on the table before you even sat down. Waiters did a dance with the baked Alaska on the last evening of the cruise etc. With Freestyle you don't get to your waiters and they don't get to know you. The food was less than exciting. Not sure how you screw up a pecan pie but they did amongst other dishes. When the main dining room was closed the Buffet area was so crowded there was no place to sit. We never could even get into the spots bar as it was always crowded. We missed the elaborate Midnight buffet that used to be the centerpiece of the cruise.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

It was clean and the attendant did a good job of keeping it that way. However, one set of drawers would not work and we had to go look for a battery for the remote control to the TV.

Port Reviews

Seward

Rode the train from Anchorage to Seward. Had fantastic views and the soup in a breadbowl was fantastic. The Seward port was less than exciting.
