Took an 8 day cruise from Warnemunde, Germany to Copenhagen, Denmark. Had port stops in Tallinn, St. Petersburg (2 days), and Helsinki. We were supposed to have an additional stop in Stockholm but it was cancelled due to high winds. It was supposed to be a 9 day cruise ending in Warnemunde but the cruise line gave us permission to disembark in Copenhagen which was nice because we could spend a few days there instead of going back to Germany. The downside to embarking in Warnemunde however was that getting to the check-in tent was very difficult with luggage. The train stops on the east side of the fence about a 1/2 half mile north of the tent. You have to walk down this large flight of stairs to go through a tunnel under the train tracks and then back up another flight of stairs. There is no elevator. This is very difficult if you have luggage (which everybody who goes on a cruise has).

Pros:

-Entertainment shows on the ships were high quality. Burn the Floor, Million Dollar Quartet, and Cirque Dreams were all very good shows.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Cabin IF

Spacious but strange design. Small closet with little half shelves to put things on. The safe is in a dark space that is not easy to access. The upper shelf above the clothes rack is only for tall people. The bathroom is larger than usual. It constantly smelled like urine (not ours). There is also an opening at the bottom of the shower door that allows water to splash onto the bathroom floor. Lots of shelf space in the bathroom. The desk was too small. Also, no power outlet next to the bed. I use my phone as alarm clock so I like to keep it next to the bed when I sleep but I also had to charge it so it had to be left on the desk and I had to get up to turn off the alarm every morning. Our cabin steward liked to move our toothbrushes every day even though I put them in a specific spot. Our trash can was moved daily from where we put it. We ran out of soap and had to ask for more even though he checked our room daily. The tissues were not re-filled. The bed was horrible and made my back hurt.

Port Reviews

Rostock (Warnemunde)

We embarked here. There is no elevator when you are trying to cross the train tracks so good luck lugging your luggage up and down the 2 flights of stairs.

Tallinn

We did a hop-on hop-off bus tour. The Old City is nice walk around in even though it is very hilly. The view from St. Mary's Cathedral is beautiful but be prepared for a scary climb up the old spiral staircase. The TV Tower was cool to visit and watch the people walk outside tethered to the side of the building. If you plan on visiting the KGB museum then you will need to make an appointment prior to the date.

Helsinki

Took the boat out to Suomellinna Island and then did a boat tour afterwards. I would not recommend doing both of these things if you only have 1 day in port. Do one or the other (probably just the boat tour). The island was kind of boring.

Copenhagen

Rent some bicycles and try to find all of the 6 Forgotten Giants in the countryside. Christianborg Palace is very nice but you can skip the ruins (not much to see). The view from the Tower is amazing. Take a boat cruise through the canals. If you eat at one of the restaurants in Nyhavn, be prepared to spend a small fortune.
