We chose this ship as it fit in the week we were planning to travel with family and friends. We flew into MCO and stayed at the Homewood Suites in Cape Canaveral. This was a great hotel spot to depart from. The provided a shuttle to the ship for $5 a person. The Magic was overall a bit dirty with dirt and dust visibly built up on the curtains. The entertainment on the ship was not the best and other than spending time with my family it was a bit disappointing. The Cabin 9357 was the worst of any cruise we have ever been on. This room was directly below the lido deck which was a bit noisy during the day due to footsteps but tolerable. But there was a workers closet just above this room across from Guys Burgers and the noise in that room all night long was like a bowling alley above our room. Even my husband who can sleep through anything could not sleep in this room. We complained and were told to call them every time we were woken up!! So I spent the next two nights calling the front desk every 4 or 5 times a night. I finally spoke to the Housekeeping manager and the Guest Services manager and things seemed to improve. We were comped a spa treatment for our inconvenience, but I just wanted to sleep and relax on my vacation! The last two nights the noise became unbearable again as if they were done trying to accommodate us. By this time I was done too. I told them to stop renting this room out at this category knowing it is a terrible room! The food was average and the entertainment was not what we expected. Having traveled on the Conquest previously where Shane was the host in the dining room and was very entertaining, this was terrible in comparison with no entertainment. The Beach excursion in Grand Turk was our favorite and the Zip Lining in St. Kitts was a lot of fun as well. Other than that we were not impressed with the Snorkeling Excursion on the Catamaran in St. Maarten. We just did a shopping trip in San Juan. Our Steward, Putra, was wonderful and very much service oriented toward our family and really the best experience we had in service on the ship. This is our 4th cruise, second with Carnival and convinced us that we will not sail with Carnival again.

Cabin 8D

This room is extremely noisy. The lido deck is above which is not so bad as it is a walk through area with entry between the dining hall and Guy's burgers. The issue is that there is a worker's closet just above this room where they take the mop buckets in and out and I am not sure what else but it is extremely noisy all night long. It sounds as if there is a bowling alley above the room during the night. The noise is less during the day when people are walking through than at night when we are trying to sleep! I would avoid this room at all cost!

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Stayed at the Homewood Suites in Cape Canaveral. The hotel was excellent.

San Juan

The guys in our group visited the old fort and got some beautiful photos. The ladies shopped and to be honest, I could have stayed on the ship for what was there to shop for.
