I enjoyed a wonderful 7 nights eastern Caribbean cruise departing from Miami calling at Philipsburg - St Maarten, San Juan - Puerto Rico and Nassau in the Bahamas, with 3 days at sea overall. First of all, we chose this cruise for the price and not the ship or the ports of call it visited but I and my family were extremely surprised at how good MSC actually are (in our opinion) Reading previous reviews on the MSC DIVINA were definitely mixed, to say the least, but the conclusion I can reach is that those who have been on multiple cruises with NCL, Royal Caribbean etc generally don't like MSC but those who have traveled in Europe or have been on a handful of cruises love MSC, and I fall into the category that loves MSC.

The embarkation and boarding process overall was what I expected that's not to say that the lines were short but they weren't out of the door long like some Carnival cruises I've been on. Check-in and security were relatively fast even though some cruise terminal staff were rather ignorant, but that's not really MSC's fault. As always a mandatory boarding photo was taken and after a 9-hour transatlantic flight from the UK then straight to the port my family and I didn't exactly look "fresh" to say the least. When we actually got onto the vessel at around 2 pm our cabins were ready and that was the first place we went. Then straight to the buffet.

For the most part, my family and I ate in the buffet area with only going to the Main dining room one time for the first formal evening, I will explain why later. The buffet food is pretty good overall but can get slightly boring a few days into the cruise with them really only changing the deserts and meat section each day. During dinner and breakfast times only part of the buffet was open but for lunch both sections were open. And as always on embarkation and disembarkation days, the buffet was packed and felt over run and crowded. As I said we only went to the Main Dining Room one time this is because the food simply wasn't good and I felt like the food wasn't worth the 15 to 25-minute wait for it when I can actually see, smell and pick the amount of food I want from the buffet.
