We started getting treated very well from the moment we checked our bags. We didn't have to touch them till we got on the Idi. We were cruising for the first time together and without our children for the first time also. The ship was large but intimate. The ship was clean, quiet, and the trip up the river was very smooth. Our cabin felt huge. and it had a massive bed that was very comfortable. We had the pleasure of having a Veranda suite, right on the river level. It was spectacular. I enjoyed seeing swans and ducks most mornings. Every inch of the Idi was well cared for and that care was reflected in the care that the crew extended to its passengers as well. Our cabin was attended to at least twice a day by our steward Petra. She always had a smile on her face, as did every person we encountered working on the ship. Every meal we ate was a feast of the local cuisine. Dinner was local specialties but breakfast was everything you could think of. Dimitri (our chef) paid very close attention to our food allergies and every meal was vetted to make sure they were safe. Our servers Igor and Bogdan were exceptionally nice. We had a great deal of fun going on the tours during the day and at night the staff including Arturo and Vicki were so entertaining. Vicki detailed all the activities that were to follow in the morning and Arturo made sure everyone got bottles of water and a smile before the tours. The tour buses were so plush and very clean. We got to see castles and the stories that went with them. Windmills and what they did. Shopping and bicycle's, canals and castles, chocolate, interesting street markets. Vicki even helped us rent a car to go see my old unit where I was stationed when I lived there. We hit the markets at every port and loved it. We also had a wonderful time meeting all the different people on the Idi. We were among the younger bunch but everyone was so friendly and kind. I felt like I had a hundred friends who were all enjoying this fantastic voyage with us and it was all the better for it. Our tour guides were a variety of characters. Our favorites were Vicki from the Idi, Vicki with the hat, and the best was Rocko in Cologne. He was so funny and irreverent. A true comedian . The cruise was a relaxed special time to recharge and relax. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. We met people from Korea, Great Britain, Czechoslovakia and so many other places too numerous to recount. We met so many delightful and varied persons it was so sweet. I hope to take another river cruise on the Idi and many other Viking river ships in the future. I miss my friends on the crew and every soul we traveled with. It was awesome!!!
