With our 18-year-old son getting ready for college we wanted to do what could be our last fun family vacation for the four of us (his sister is 12-years-old) before college, internships, etc take him away.

We thought about doing a inclusive resort in Mexico and the last cruise we were on was in Sept 2003 on Enchantment of the Seas so I started doing some research.

I had never heard of Cruise Critic before but in a Google search for cruise reviews it was at the top so I created an account. All the info on this site is fantastic!!

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin N

Since this was a last minute cruise (Paid for it in May 2017) the ocean view rooms were very expensive so we opted for an interior room on deck 7.

Glad we did as there was so much to do on Allure from 7 am to midnight or 1 am some nights that by the time we got into our rooms (7277 and 7279) we hit the bed and fell asleep immediately.

For us the interior room was just right and we didn't feel cramped at all. The two twin bed pushed together was perfect and the mattress, bedding and pillows were very nice.

We should have taken the advice of others on Cruise Critic about bringing our own bars of soap and shampoo as the body wash/shampoo provided wasn't the best.

We booked an ocean view room on Harmony for our next cruise in April 2019 and it's so far out that we got the cruise at a rate far cheaper than the Allure cruise we just finished.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We got into Ft. Lauderdale two days before our cruise.

On Friday night we went to Miami and saw the Marlins vs Dodgers.

On Saturday we did a full day deep sea fishing trip (saw it on Groupon) which was fun plus it was nice especially for our kids to see a big MSC, Norwegian and Carnival cruise ship pass by our fishing charter and for them to know that the Allure that we'd be on the very next day was even bigger than those three cruise ships.
