we chose this cruise as it was a new ship and wanted to try Princess cruising. we chose the wrong ship for the Princess experience. our cabin was good (mini-suite), but every time it rained, the balcony was flooded and took quite a long time to empty - no drainage - therefore there was already signs of rusting on the paintwork. the ship is lovely, but poorly set out. no quiet bar areas with just light music to sit and enjoy. all areas very open and noisy. the buffet had good choice of food, but never hot. always luke warm!. anytime dining completely separate to seated dining, felt like second class passengers! food just so so! again always warm not hot!!! Alfredo's (pizza/pasta) was excellent, soup delicious & hot, pizzas wonderful. Crown Grill also delicious, but noisy as it is open to their bar area. the crew on the whole were excellent. found the chinese crew not so, didn't seem happy to be on the ship. the cruise director should go back to cruise directors school, he and his group were boring. the casino area and so called VIP gaming lounges always smelt of cigarettes as you were allowed to smoke in them. phew!!!!! the tours were expensive and poorly organised, ending up cancelling 2 of ours. not enough time in most ports! and why oh why would the crew be sanding back the varnished outside stairs and re varnishing when ship only 3 months old?? so ship always smelt of varnish or paint - again phew!!!! photographers took boring photos, same ole poses...they need to try modernising their sittings and take better photos. although we had a good cruise and relaxed and enjoyed our holiday, this has put us off doing another Princess cruise. definitely enjoyed Holland America & Canrival cruises more. I dont think building a ship for a specific market (Chinese) has worked! and to cap it off most of the cruise half of the public toilets were out of order!

Cabin Review

Cabin MINI-SUITE

cabin spacious, very clean, our cabin stewardess was excellent. there were 2 tv's in cabin, one in bedroom, other in lounge area. the wardrobe area was open, like a small dressing area, plenty of coathangers and cupboard space as well. balcony small, but okay. only fault was balcony kept flooding when it rained, as there was no drainage.

Port Reviews

Singapore

stayed overnight pre cruise at the Furama City Centre. hotel good, clean and close to shopping. only 20 mins from port

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)

went into Saigon to go to the Ben Thang markets, it was very hot, so markets even hotter. stall holders very agressive in wanting you to stop and buy. I didnt stay long in the markets. didnt visit anything else as we had previously been to Ho Chi Minh City and seen all the sights

Hong Kong

have visited Hong Kong 9 times previously, Kowloon a great place to just walk around. plenty of shopping. found the Ladies Markets & Mong Kok are getting too expensive. public transport excellent, easy to use and people most happy to assist if you need help.

Osaka

we didnt travel right into Osaka on this day. there was a shopping mall right next to the ship, was excellent. there was also an aquarium, but alas as the queues were very long and our time in this port short we were unable to visit it. on the whole the Japanese people, very nice and obliging, especially trying to understand english and speak it back to us.

Seoul (Incheon)

our experience getting off the ship was poor. took over an hour and half just to get off ship and onto a shuttle bus. both crew and port authorities badly lacking in organisational skills. when we did get into Incheon, we thoroughly enjoyed the markets, people friendly, and lots of bargains to be had. so interesting seeing the different foods cooked fresh. and they were safe to eat. again not enough time in port to experience everything.
