We have been on 13 CCL cruises and other lines as well. Our son and his friend graduated high school and asked for their gift to go on a cruise. They chose Carnival Magic. Embarkation was a 20 min wait upon arrival (used park & cruise-well organized). Arrived at 12 noon note:processing time on boarding pass was not enforced. On board by 12:40 and had lunch. Italian restaurant, no line, no cost, dish made to order. Ship was clean, scrubbed down each night. Room was clean, requested service 2x a day, ice, and 2 extra pillows. I did not eat at any of the buffet, except the deli. No more than 5-10 min. My wife and son had lunch at the buffet, morning and lunch-long lines especially at Guy's and the Wok. I had breakfast in the dinning room each morning and received my meal hot and with 15 min. MDR every night, (your time dining) good choices which are relatively the same on the past few cruises. Offered choices for "Port of the Day" as well. Desert choices were easy, we just picked two, of with ice cream. Service was slow, until we were serviced br BB and Blue. We requested them for the rest of our dinners. They were experienced and worked their "Magic" and went the mile to entertain the kids. A pickie eater, they always had suggestions for the little ones. Beverages serviceson deck was not a problems. Always a wait for service at a show or bar during the evening hours.

Entertainment was average at best, entertainers worked hard, but the shows were not up to par. Comedian shows were not so good. When CCL had a contract with George Lopez, the shawls were very good. The best show was Love and Marriage hosted by Dr E.

Cozumel is a busy port, took a taxi to Paridise Beach, great time as always then shopping (I went back to the ship). Belize, long wait time for a tender-one hour then the 20 min ride to port. We went cave tubing and it was great as always. We did not book through the cruise, fraction of the cost with a vender on line. Montigo Bay, taxi to the other side of island to the beach. Numerous islanders walking and selling goods. My wife received a full body message $20 for 30 min. Costa Maya, the carnival village expanded a bit. Lots of shopping and entertainnment. Took taxi, $3 per person to local town. You have the beach and local venders an restaurants. Back to the ship. Fun days at sea are the days we really enjoy. The serenity deck-good luck, chair hogs. Watched a couple passengers get into over a piece of real estate-a hammock. Forgot to mention, the morning in Costa Maya, the deck chairs and pool sitting area are full of towel animals. Large gator, various employee uniforms are outfitted and baby family animals. Great picture opportunity.

Costa Maya

Good area for last day of shopping. Negotiate the price 40-50% of asking price. For i.e. My son and I wanted an item, he went first and started at 40 and would go less than 30. I went about 30 min later, started at 35, offered 16. He accepted once I started to walk away.
