We have traveled RCCL 3 times now and all have been very good. The staff, itineraries, food, and general cleanliness have been excellent. To service 3000+ people non-stop 7 days a week must be impossible. Yes, there are glitches along the way. Service people dead tired or having a bad day, rude cruisers, sanitation issues, a bad batch of food, broken equipment, the age of ship etc.. What I will cover are the things that can be changed. RCCL's demographic has gotten younger with more children. It is more like Carnival 10-15 years ago. As a result, all the music is millennial and very loud. Often the dance floors were empty with 30+ waiting for relatable music. When there was the 60s, 70s, 80s, even '00s the floor would fill, yet that was infrequent or 1 night of 7. Formal night has become tie night, and all other nights are shorts/ slacks and flip/flop nights. Just a lack of sophistication. We enjoyed the cruise, the people, the kids but felt there was no sanctuary other than the room. When the Blue Moon was jazz, it was ideal. You could have a drink and conversation without yelling and even dance cheek to cheek. One venue like that was appreciated. Cruising has become more casual and family oriented and RCCL has responded appropriately. I just wish RCCL would provide a venue or facilitate loyal customers, without losing gold status, to a line that does provide that (Celebrity).
