On March 26th, my sister, mom and aunt set out on the Carnival Sensation to celebrate my mom’s 75th birthday. We had just gotten off another cruise and was ready for another epic adventure. Upon arriving on the Sensation ship we were shocked at the out dated decor. We could live with that, but to have filthy windows obstructing the view to the beautiful ocean blues and greens was totally unacceptable. Every window from the Lido deck to the dining room, in the halls and in our state room was disgustingly dirty!

Once we made it to our stateroom, my sister and I noticed a pungent smell coming from the bathroom. We opened the door to air it out. After further inspecting the bathroom we found water damage on the ceiling and mold. The next day my sister started coughing and I started scratching. We have severe mold allergies and kept the door to the bathroom closed and the cabin door opened so we could get fresh air circulating while in the stateroom. We requested to be moved to another room, but Guest Services said they didn’t have a cabin they could relocated us to. They sent a maintenance crew member to our cabin to clean the bathroom and re-caulk the shower. After the bleach smelled died down the same pungent/cat urine smell returned. By then my sister was sick from the effects of being exposed to mildew and mold in our cabin and I was taking benedryl like skittles to control the itching of my skin, in addition to puffing excessively on my asthma inhaler. And if that wasn’t enough to destroy the second half of our 2 week vacation, the water on the boat tasted like pure rust! The water in the toilet had a brown tint. The water from the sink ran with a brown tint and the supposed to be white towels and wash clothes were dingy looking. And to not be able to bring water aboard and subject the passengers to this potentially toxic water…..UNACCEPTABLE!

To muddy the waters further, pun intended, the food was hit or miss, usually miss. We thought if we ordered from the steak house things would be different. Not! My sister and I both ordered Surf & Turf from the Steak House selection on separate nights and wasted our money. Our steaks came out 10 seconds from being charred when we asked for medium well. The lobster was watery and rubbery. I seriously believe Guy Fieri would’ve have been embarrassed to have his name on those burgers on Sensation. We tried breakfast in the dining room and that was even a waste of effort. Now we are sick, dehydrated and hungry.

Cabin Review

Cabin Connecting Room

Cabin had mildew/ mold in the bathroom and the window was very dirty. The beds were comfortable and the room was connected to another cabin via locking doors on each side. Had ample closet space for 2 people. Nice dresser/vanity area with chair to store clothes, etc.
