Overall the cruise was good. This was our 3rd MSC cruise and the first on a mid sized ship. Previous cruises were on the larger ships. Basically runs just like the bigger ones with the slightly smaller space not really noticeable .My only small complaint and it was a common comment with the others in our group was the way the dining room meals for breakfast and lunch were run. Part of your meal depending what you ordered was from a self service buffet within the dining room. This makes it rather awkward as passengers rather than just sitting down once to be served, are up and down walking around with the waiters with plates of food. I thought it smart enough to order off the menu so when sitted, I didn't have to get up. This detracts from the ambience of a dining room. If I want to get my own, Id go to the buffet on deck 13. The evening meals were excellent as was the table service.

My other comment concerns the acts on this ship. We had 11 nights and too many shows were just dance based. A bit more singing, or even for variety would have been nice. We was performed as ok, just repetitive. Same dancers, similar moves, just in different costumes and themes. I suppose its a bit of a pot luck depending who's rostered on the ship and whether its to your personal style and taste.

Port Reviews

Genoa

did time at Genoa before cruise. Nice city to explore. best ,if not fit to start at the top and work your way down the hill

Malta (Valletta)

Took the local hop on hop off bus tour to all the sights. Great value. managed to see the midday cannon firing from top of the old fort over the harbour . great experience

Athens (Piraeus)

Did public transport to Athens as been there before. Just went to City by train. It was Sunday very busy but very sad city compared to 3 years ago. Athens is suffering. Other than the Acropolis poor Athens is living on past memories

Limassol

Nice city and port. Walked around. Pleasant

Rhodes

Walked from ship to attractions around the port. All close. Tours not needed. Lots of tourists as there were 2 other cruise ships there. Lots of shops ( for tourists! )

Rome (Civitavecchia)

didnt do a tour to Rome due to unrest in the city due to a political protext and suspected trouble. Stayed away from Rome and just walked around the local shops. ok
