We choose this cruise because of the ports of call, knowing the ship was old but had some very positive reviews. My goodness what a disappointment...total garbage. This ship just does not compare in terms of quality of cabins, food, entertainment and ship facilities to modern ships. If this had been our first cruise we'd never set foot on another cruise ship.

The ship vibrates a lot and is not well maintained, the windows are extremely dirty, the mirrors and lamps in the Lido restaurant are covered in layers of dust. The food on board is rubbish, cold, bland, tasteless mush. There were very long queues in the Lido most of the time as they only had half the serving area open. The main dining room was awful, by a million miles the worst I've ever experienced on a cruise. Very limited choice, the food was terrible and the service slow and at times surly. For example I ordered a turkey schnitzel and potato wedges and what I received a very long time later was a very dry piece of turkey with two fat chips. We went to the Lido and they had the same choices as the MDR. This happened every night, all previous cruises I've been on the food in the MDR has been higher quality than the buffet. On Thomson you get the same rubbish in both.

The ship lacks facilities which leads to overcrowding in the theatre and bars and on one night led to a punch-up between passengers over seats in the theatre. The shows on board were not worth fighting over. The standard of shows was poor, shouting is not singing. Some of the performers actually looked uncomfortable on stage, rabbit in headlights comes to mind. There was a guest comedian on board who was funny, a guest singing duo who were excellent and a guest magician/comedian who was poor.

Cabin Review

Cabin Inside

The cabin was clean and had reasonable amount of storage. The bedding, pillows and mattress were uncomfortable. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything being said next door. Cheapskate Thomson's charge an extra fee for using the in room safe.
