Firstly we chose “Viking” based on our previous river cruising experiences. We always book our travel and transfers with Viking. As soon as we see the Viking agents responsible for getting us to our ship, we immediately relax and get into vacation mode. We chose this cruise hoping to see the natural beauty of the Norwegian fjords and Viking came through with flying colors. As advertized, our ship sailed to locations only accessible to smaller ocean liners. During the cruise, we enjoyed several conversations with our ship’s captain. He was very approachable and appeared to enjoy the cruise just as much as his passengers did. The entire service staff took care of all our requests and needs. The in port excursions were fun and very educational. During our time on board, we utilized the excellent fitness facilities, enjoyed many satisfying meals at all of the restaurants and poolside grill. We have now enjoyed both ocean and river cruising with Viking and look forward to booking future trips.
The cabin had plenty of room for our belongings. Very comfortable bedding and a great bathroom area with very nice shower facilities.
This was our embarkation port. All went smooth with our trip from airport to our ship.
Story of the Italian Chapel built during WWII at this location really tugged at our hearts.
What I remember most about our Lerwick tour was the fact that at every turn we encounter someone related to our tour guide! She was a delight!
The inlet waterway into the city is so beautiful viewed from high above at Mt. Aksla and within the city itself.
The views above the fjord that leads into Geiranger are breathtaking.
White sided homes in older part of town are beautifully preserved.
Inlet with non-stop restaurants was a blast to visit. Got lucky as an outdoor jazz festival was also in progress at this location.
Tour guides were the best we had on entire trip. They lived in both west and east Berlin so were able to provide us with very personal and compelling stories related to the Berlin Wall.
Really beautiful and busy city.
Just a gem and very unexpected highlight of the cruise. Also a most delightful tour guide!
Beautiful city. Learning more about the Nobel prize process was very interesting.
Only port with bad weather. Just would not stop raining, but we made the best of it.
