Sail Date: Feb 2017
Cabin: Balcony

We chose this cruise because it had 3 ports we had not visited before, the price was decent & we had never sailed on the Splendor.

My 90 yr old mother & sister joined us for this cruise. Mom had only sailed a couple of times prior on other cruise lines & sister had sailed several times over several cruise lines including Carnival.

I was not impressed with our cruise director, his singing over the PA was a bit annoying. I felt the entertainment was lacking a great deal. Sea side theatre shows were not scheduled very well for our early dining time. By the time we finished dinner, the movie was well under way. We did not try the comedy club. Having our 90 year old mom made the entertainment choices difficult. Carnival needs to step up their entertainment.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8F

It was a standard Carnival balcony cabin. The balcony seemed smaller than previous balconies. We asked our steward to separate our bed to make 2 twins. There was not enough room between the bed, less than 1 foot between, so it felt like we were still in 1 bed. My mother & sister were in 1065 next door- same issue with the beds being way too close together. There was no space between window & bed either. There were 3 closets, 4-5 drawers, plenty of shelves in the bathroom, drawers under the sofa. No robes in room, no ice bucket. Our steward gave us a card where we could make requests & select our preferred cabin servicing time- morning, evening & both were on the card. My sister next door requested both & was given a bit of trouble for it at 1st, but did comply with her wishes. We did have the balcony partition opened between our balconies (1063/1065) Doing this made the balcony seem even smaller & it partially blocked the window of 1065. It was convenient for us to use the balcony to go between cabins instead of using the hallway. Cabin was cleaned daily, but no notable extra service was provided.

Port Reviews

Miami

we flew into Ft Lauderdale the day before, rented a car & drove to our Miami hotel. We had a bit of trouble figuring our way around the port area & how to drop off our rental car, trouble finding gas stations to refuel the car near the drop off point.

We stayed at La Quinta near the Miami airport. Great location, clean room, helpful staff.
