Sail Date: Feb 2017

We cruise quite frequently (our 84th Cruise) and this one was available at a reasonable cost at the time I was searching for a get-away to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. We have not sailed with HAL for many years and was happy to take advantage of this convenient opportunity which matched up with a business reason to visit South Florida. We boarded Eurodam with no delays in a very smooth operation. Were a bit dismayed with the small size of our cabin but made the best of it and quickly got settled in. One caveat to fellow disabled couples: This ship has two sizes of elevators, and only the larger ones can accommodate two scooters simultaneously.

We found that the Buffet was quite good and easy for us to negotiate with our scooters, plus early reports by fellow cruisers commenting that the Dining Rooms fare was nothing special caused us to utilize the Buffet for all of our meals except for a couple occasions when we decided to have room service, which BTW was quite good for sandwiches and salads. (not so much for any hot foods as that proved to be difficult to receive while still hot)

The ship is arranged for easy movement by wheelchairs and scooters, with automatic door opening on virtually all doors except for the cabins. Where the disabled accommodations fell short was in the Main Theater. Almost no designated spaces were provided for disabled to remain in their conveyance and watch the shows. Very poor design ! There was only two production Stage shows for the 7 day trip, and neither of them was sufficiently interesting for us to stay for the entire performances. Definitely were geared toward the young Millennials.

Cabin Review

Cabin Interior Wheelchair Access

Cabin was quite small compared to almost all other ships we have cruised on. We had to have all movable furniture removed in order to have both of our mobility scooters in the cabin. The queen sized bed was comfortable and the TV screen was larger than many others we have had on cruise, although the volume was limited to 50% of the available range, and seemed to have a problem with clearly reproducing sound when playing Movies, which BTW provided an excellent menu of free on-demand movies and shows, as well as quite expensive pay per view movies.

Be sure to bring your own Power strip and 12' extension cord to get power to the bed-side tables for use of CPAP equipment etc.. There was limited drawer space, and 2 Hanging closets for clothes, and a good sized digital Safe available. A/C was adequate during all phases of the cruise.
