The Maasdam anchored off Dravuni Island, Fiji.

We are avid cruisers averaging 2-3 cruises per year -- we especially like long repositioning cruises, and have cruised NCL, Celebrity and Carnival. This was our first Holland America cruise and in all categories HAL and the Maasdam outrank all other cruise lines and ships we've sailed so far. Our inside stateroom was configured in such a way that the two of us could be comfortable without stumbling over each other. The storage was the best we've every had -- we could put away 52 days of clothing, snorkeling equipment, and supplies without having clutter every where. The service provided by the staff was AMAZING. Not only were they highly competent, but they were all so, so friendly -- it was difficult saying good-bye at the end of the cruise. The food was excellent. Usually after a couple of weeks we get tired of "cruise food", but we enjoyed every meal on the Maasdam right up to that last breakfast on disembarkation day. The Maasdam also had nice "little touches" like a Blu Ray player in every room and an extensive DVD borrowing library. We also liked the many comfortable places to sit and read or enjoy a quiet conversation.

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

We loved our cabin. We had enough storage space to put everything away -- no clutter. Also we could both get in and out of bed without having to climb over each other. The couch provided a very comfortable place for me to read in the early morning hours while my husband continued sleeping. The bathroom countertop gave us plenty of room to spread out our toiletries and the shelf below plenty of room to store what we weren't using.

Port Reviews

Honolulu

We live just 20 miles from Honolulu so did not take any excursions, but rather used the day to run errands and then meet friends for lunch. However, there is much to do on the island of Oahu so don't just think its Pearl Harbor or Waikiki!

Bali

There is much to see in Bali -- it is a very interesting place. The best value is to book a private car for a full day tour (see Trip Advisor for recommendations).
