We chose this cruise because of the SE Asia destinations which sounded interesting. Embarkation was handled reasonably well, considering the number of people they have to handle. We've only done one cruise before on Dawn Princess, so only had that as a comparison.

We didn't think the food choice at Horizon Court was good as Dawn P. Also, on Dawn P we could get a nice pizza at Sabatini's at no extra charge, this Sabatini's was one of the speciality restaurants, with the only pizzas available up on deck. Hardly conducive for a nice dinner. Food in the restaurants was OK. We also ate at the Japanese & Sterling Steakhouse speciality restaurants. Was disappointed in the latter.

We were also pretty disappointed in the entertainment which was pretty average. Who wants to watch a group of singers/dancers sing half a song in cabaret style which all seemed to be the same. There weren't any subject expert lecturers, apart from the port expert whose presentations were long and dull. Pretty much the only things we took part in were the trivia sessions (there were LOTS of them).

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin was clean and in good condition, with a large walk in wardrobe. Small bathroom, but adequate.

Because the balconies were tiered, we looked down onto the balconies below, rather than being able to see all that was happening on the wharf. But glad the balconies on our deck had a roof.

Port Reviews

Penang

We took a hop on/off bus here. It was very slow because of the traffic and, because we couldn't fit upstairs, we spent half of the trip facing backwards. When we finally got upstairs the view was better, but they don't have a running commentary, so we didn't get a lot out of it.

Penang has some interesting architecture, but it's not a place I'd rush back to.
