This was my second cruise on this ship. It is very comfortable, with excellent service, but without being pretentious. The cabins are comfortable, with shower and toilet, and storage under the bed for empty luggage. Air conditioning works well; water is always piping hot. The kitchen is staffed by one chef and a kitchen hand; and the food is first class; always; breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. This cruise stops at Cooktown, and at Lizard Island, then three reefs on the outer Great Barrier Reef. On this trip the conditions were perfect; calm water; good visibility. Land and sea activities are conducted without fuss and crew members are professional, friendly, and fun. Entry for snorkelling is from the rear platform which descends to sea level - so easy. At two reefs we saw no other boats, and had the areas to ourselves. At the third reef there was another boat which quickly moved off as we approached. So again, we had the reef to ourselves. The one thing to be aware of is that conditions will not always be perfect, as the south-easterly trade winds can get strong particularly from March to September.
The cabins are comfortable, and more than adequate. Ports go under the bed, out of the way. The deluxe stateroom has more room, with a sofa, desk and bigger wardrobe. But with the activities on land and sea, the dining area, and the top deck bar and open area, it is unlikely any passenger will spend much time in a cabin.
Cairns is really a travel hub for arrivals and departure.
