We have recently returned from our extensive Asian travels, and have been very surprised to read such negative reviews of the Tokyo (Yokohama) to Hong Kong cruise. This was a very interesting itinerary, and although not perfect we found the Celebrity Millennium cruise to be very enjoyable.

The main let down for us was the quality of the food and the service in the MDR. We overcame this by eating some evening meals in the Ocean View Buffet, where we were able to have food cooked to order e.g. stir fries and pasta. We also enjoyed sitting in the outdoor eating area when weather permitted.

The ship itself was in good condition for its age, and there were many pleasant bars and places to sit to listen to a wide array of music. The covered pool area was lovely and not too crowded. The entertainment overall was of a good quality and we enjoyed the enrichment lectures very much.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 8

This stateroom was comfortable and spacious, with a large sofa and a lounge chair. The design with closet and bathroom doors opening onto each other was a little awkward but typical of the older ships we have been on.

Port Reviews

Nagasaki

Nagasaki is very easy to get around with the tram pass. It rained when we were there, so the Peace Park was a bit hard to see properly. We wandered extensively on foot, visiting the sights mentioned on the map given to us by the TI in the terminal building. We finished at Glover Garden up the hill(take the vertical lift to get there) and then made our way back down at dusk.

Taipei (Keelung)

We had planned on taking the train from Keelung into Taipei, but the weather was extremely hot, and we decided just to walk around in Keelung. The night markets were hectic and atmospheric. Next day we made our way up the hill to see the Temple and the big statue. They were a long way from each other, don't believe the tourist map! Overall not a port I would want to return to.

Hong Kong

We took the free shuttle from the terminal into the metro station that was near a shopping centre at Diamond Hill, and used the metro to get around. We bought an Octopus card, which was a good move as we were going to be here for a few days. This is a very good system and easy to navigate if you are used to Metros. We went over to The Peak, but the Peak tramway had huge queues, so we opted for the bus to get there and back. We spent some more time on Hong Kong Island, and then got the metro back to Diamond Hill where we waited for ages for the shuttle back to the ship, where we were to spend the night .
