This was ms Koningsdam's first US cruise after sailing throughout the world on its 2016 inaugural season. This ship is a stunner from top to bottom, and it is difficult for us as frequent cruisers to imagine a more thoroughly delightful experience than this short (four night) introductory voyage. Incidentally, Holland America may be regarded as a premium line, but there are a good number of excellent low fares available.
As seems to be routine these days at Southeast Florida ports (both Port Everglades and Miami), embarkation and disembarkation procedures flow without any excessive delay.
We did not travel with children, and while Holland America offers, I believe, very good facilities for young travelers, this was not a voyage noted for its youthful numbers.
We had an inside stateroom, but that fact belies the functional size and amenities in a small space. The glass-enclosed shower could in fact accommodate two people. That's worth saying since we've many of us been on cruises with showers almost too small for one person. There was generous hanging space, complete with real wood hangars, and storage drawers and shelves. Turndown service is still provided on Holland America Line, along with chocolates, beautiful bathrobes, and fine toiletries. The stateroom attendants were typically flawless and practically invisible.
We took ourselves to the beach (walked).
Half Moon Cay is a wonderful and blissful private island.
