I didn't think Uniworld could continue to exceed our expectations, but once again they did, this time on a Danube cruise from Romania to Hungary. The entire staff are beyond excellent: always cheerful and polite, acknowledging you by name within 2 days of the start of the cruise, even remembering your favorite beverage! From check-in to disembarkation, every aspect of the cruise was well executed. The shore excursions were very interesting, with excellent guides. The onboard entertainment was of superior quality: a folk dance group one evening, children's choir another, nightly entertainment by the ship's pianist. The ship itself was lovely. I especially was impressed by the gym, which had enough equipment to keep me happy and offered daily exercise classes as well as bikes to use when in port. After meeting 4 other couples that we really connected with, we asked the maître d' if he could set up a table for all 10 of us to sit together at dinner. He managed to arrange an ideal seating arrangement for us each night, something that went beyond the realm of our expectations. Each night we found a little gift in our room from the chamber staff, ranging from bath salts one night to a cache of favorite recipes from the chef. And we'll never forget Jasmine, the front desk concierge, whose energy could only be exceeded by her grace. What a gem! Uniworld is a class act, on every level, and we will continue to travel with them again and again.
Even though our cabin was one of the least expensive ones, on the lower level, we could not have been happier with it. It is the same size as most of the rooms on the upper levels, and we find that we actually prefer being on the lower floor because there is not as much traffic in the hallway. There was ample closet space, with plenty of hangers, which delighted me! Our cabin steward explained where everything in our room was located, and how to use the television and cooling systems. The marble bathroom was spacious enough for a ship's bathroom, and the bedding was very comfortable.
